This DIY painted canvas tote would make a great farmers market bag! Cant you just see it filled with vegetables and with a bouquet of sunflowers hanging over the edge?
All you need is a canvas tote bag ( I got mine from Hobby Lobby), some paint ( I used a tube of acrylic paint), and some painters tape.
I used my painters tape to tape off an area that I wanted to paint. I started painting at the bottom darker, and then when I got closer to the top I used a lot of water to thin out my paint for a lighter fade effect (ombre).
After I was done painting, I peeled off the painters tape and let the bag dry. Once it was dry, I threw it in the washer and washed and dried it. As you can see, the wash faded the paint quite a bit but it also softened up the fabric and I really like the faded out look!
It looks like denim :)
This project was easy and cheap! These would be great to make as christmas gifts! Think of all the different color combos and patterns you could try! I will be making some more for sure!
Try it this weekend!
